WHYS Field Locations DALEWOOD: Fields at the Dalewood school are adjacent to the school parking lot, with restrooms and water fountains available in the adjacent recreation centre. U4 FIELDS: The Lawn Bowling Fields at Churchill Park were home to the Churchill Fields Lawn Bowling Club since 1958. After 49 years of use, the LBC is no longer using the fields. The West Hamilton Youth Soccer Club will be using the space for our smallest players, our Co-Ed U4 Micro players. Our goal is to utilize the space while have minimal impact of the surface of the fields, allowing for other community members to use the space. There is very limited, restricted parking in the area and we STRONGLY encourage all families to walk or bike to their evening's soccer. The City, in conjunction with the Friends of Churchill Park, are working to have the washrooms operational for the 2013 U4 season. CHURCHILL PARK: Churchill Park in West Hamilton is owned by the Royal Botanical Gardens, but has functioned as a City of Hamilton park, hosting baseball, soccer, cricket, lawn bowling, sites and other open space amenities. Churchill Park is a critical asset to the Ainslie Wood-Westdale community, Canada’s first planned neighbourhood. Restrooms are available. KAY DRAGE: Kay Drage Park is a large sports park with soccer and baseball fields that was built on top of a former landfill site. The entrance to the park is located across the expressway on Macklin Street. These fields have been revitalized by the City of Hamilton over the last number of years. As the trees are new and young there is almost no shade in the area, so we recommend that you bring some form of shade with you. The club will be contracting the placement of a Porta-Potty at the field, but there are no other ammenities in the area, so ensure that you bring water to the park. |
